Amazon's Blockbuster earnings

$143 Billion in a single quarter?

$143 Billion in a single quarter? Those are big boys numbers right. Well that is what Amazon, (AMZN) posted in their quarterly earnings report. The company had a successful quarter where they made over $143.1 Billion in revenue compared to the $141 Billion expected by analysts.

Here are the few other key metrics from their earnings report:

  • EPS was $0.94 v/s $0.58 expected by analysts.

  • AWS Revenue $23.1 Billion v/s $23.2 Billion.

  • Revenue from advertising was $12.1 Billion v/s $11.6 Billion

Damn. When you actually look at those numbers, that is when you realise how much money there is floating and exchanging around the world all day every day. Really. Just give it a thought, $143 Billion in a single Quarter.

Well that is not enough, Amazon has said that they expect the last quarter to have a revenue around $160 Billion and $167 Billion, of course fuelled the festive holiday season. If they’re able to achieve that milestone, that would represent an almost 9.5% growth from last year’s $149 Billion number.

This year’s quarterly revenue is 13% more than last year, mostly fuelled by the high consumer spending and a better economic outlook this year.

Those are some really big numbers.
